Poetry Map

This Place, This Planet

Great poems have been written about the fragility of Planet Earth, from Byron’s 1816 poem ‘Darkness: A Vision’ to American poet Jane Hirshfield’s ‘Let Them Not Say’ of 2014.

To register our feelings about what we humans are doing to the Earth – whether locally or on a global scale – we invited poets of all ages and places to contribute a poem to Litfest’s ‘This Place, This Planet’ poetry map.

As part of this project, Litfest produced a resource and inspiration pack aimed at helping young people come up with their own “This Place, This Planet” poem — click here to download the pack!
