Gareth returned to his native Cumbria after a career in music journalism. Inspired by the dramatic landscapes around him, he began writing fiction. His three critically acclaimed novels, The great Harlequin Grim, Sunshine for the Sunless and The Anarchist’s Angel are published by Random House and explore hidden landscapes. The Sea Swallow is his first book for younger readers.
Hannah studied Fine Art at University and went on to study ‘Authorial Illustration’ as a postgraduate. Hannah won the commission to illustrate The Sea Swallow in a nationwide competition just weeks after finishing her course. Growing up by the sea, coastal imagery has always inspired her creativity. These excellent illustrations explore the natural force of the sea.
