NEW WRITING NORTHWEST

‘New Writing North West’ is a series of workshops in four genres for emerging writers in the Northwest region of England.

The genres are: fiction (led by Yvonne Battle-Felton), nature and environment writing (led by Karen Lloyd), poetry (led by Kim Moore) and translation (led by Daniel Hahn).

We invite anyone and everyone aged 18 or over who is interested to apply for a place, but also ask applicants to bear in mind that we have a maximum of 8 places per workshop and therefore that there will be a selection process based on the statement, the writing sample and the commitment to attending each session.

To apply, please write to Bill Swainson at info@litfest.org by midnight on 5 March 2021, attaching:

A cv (including full name, address, email address, mobile phone number, age, whether in education/ training/employment)

A brief statement of your aims and ambitions and what you hope to gain from the workshop

A commitment to attending every session if selected

A sample of writing, the number of words will depend on your chosen genre (see below):

    • 500-700 words of fiction
    • 500-700 words of nature and environment writing
    • 6 complete poems
    • 500 words of translated fiction

Successful applicants will be notified by 9 March, a week before the first session on 16 March.

Zoom invitations will be sent out several days before each session.

Please check before applying that you have:

  1. a reliable internet connection
  2. a device with a working camera, microphone and speaker
  3. Zoom installed and tested on your device

and

  1. will  be able to attend all of the sessions during the week on the days specified (sessions will take place between 6.00pm and 8.00pm (UK time) on the specified days).

 

Any personal data collected in this form will only be used by Litfest for the purpose described in the form itself and for as long as required for that purpose. We will delete your information when it is no longer needed.

We will not share your personal data with any third parties except the workshop leader, or unless required by law.
