Nature and Environment Writing Workshops with Karen Lloyd
Friday 15 March 10am-1pm
Tuesday 26 March 10am-1pm
Location: The Reading Room at The Storey
Free/Pay What You Can
A two-part course with nature writer Karen Lloyd, looking at approaches to writing about nature and the environment using the literary essay. The first three-hour session will involve participants in looking at various forms of essay and how these can be adopted to experiment with style, structure on the page and suitability of subject matter. The second three-hour session on Tuesday 26 March will be an opportunity for participants to share and gently co-critique their work and provide support in further developing their ideas.
This course is suitable for writers with some experience from age 17. We invite anyone and everyone interested to apply for a place on this pair of free, in-person workshops. However, we also ask applicants to bear in mind that there is a maximum of 12 places only.
For this reason there will be a selection process based on the applicant’s statement, writing sample and written commitment to attend both workshops.
While the workshops are Free/Pay What You Can, we encourage everyone to support Litfest’s ability to go on offering a wide range of events and activities with its partners by donating here.
To apply, please write to Bill Swainson at [email protected] by 6.00pm on Friday 4 March 2024, attaching:
- A CV
- A brief statement of your aims and ambitions, and what you hope to gain from the workshop
- A signed commitment to attend both sessions if selected
- A writing sample of 500-700 words
Successful applicants will be notified as soon as possible.
