The Claver Hill Tapestry
The idea for creating a tapestry around Claver Hill arose following Sewing Café Lancaster’s design and production of a textile representation of the River Lune, in collaboration with Lancaster Arts.
Sewing Café have been involved in making banners for a number of years. We felt that a tapestry representing Claver Hill would work well using a similar approach to that of the River Lune and it would be a fitting way of celebrating the 10th Anniversary of Claver Hill. The Tapestry was created by Sewing Café Lancaster and members of the Claver Hill Community.
Claver Hill — Celebrating 10 Glorious Years
Claver Hill is a community food growing project located on six acres of land on the edge of Lancaster. It has grown over the past 10 years from an empty field to a flourishing community space where local people are growing food together, and learning and sharing skills, and developing friendships. It is a place for everyone to enjoy. The project hosts a number of different initiatives:
- Spud Club (Growing food)
- Seed Library
- Tree Nursery
- Nature Trail
- Global Link Food Growing Project
- Sewing Café Lancaster Natural Dyes Project
- Preserves Project
- Community Compost
