Become a Friend for £5 a month,
or a Good Friend for £10 a month

Why become a Friend?
Litfest is a volunteer-led charity entirely dependent on fund-raised income. We work with school children, students, artists and readers in our diverse local communities to enable creativity, drive social benefit and build community through our year-round programme of festivals, events and activities.

As well as helping to support Litfest, becoming a Friend or a Good Friend gives you access to a range of benefits.

‘Friend’ (£5 per month)
Your gift would make a valuable contribution to Litfest’s work and could, for example, enable a school to receive 10 free books to support the Big Read campaign, helping children develop a lifelong love of reading. The value of the benefits to you is £10 and represents the cost of the scheme to Litfest.

These include:
• priority booking for all festival events
a twice-yearly newsletter updating you on our events and activities
• acknowledgement as a Friend on the Litfest website

A 12-month Friend membership costs £60, which can be paid as a one-off payment or in monthly instalments of £5. The value of the benefits to you is £10 and represents the cost of the scheme to Litfest. The benefits can be purchased separately at the stated price; to do so, please contact [email protected].

‘Good Friend’ (£10 per month)
Your gift would make a valuable contribution to Litfest’s work and could, for example, enable an emerging writer to join an online masterclass to support their talent development. The value of the benefits to you is £20 and represents the cost of the scheme to Litfest.

These include:
All the benefits of being a Friend, plus:
an invitation to the annual Launch Party in March
a guaranteed ticket to one of our special standalone events per year
• acknowledgement as a Good Friend in festival programmes

A 12-month Good Friend membership costs £120 which can be paid as a one-off payment or in monthly instalments of £10. The value of the benefits to you is £20 and represents the cost of the scheme to Litfest. The benefits can be purchased separately at the stated price; to do so, please contact [email protected]

As a registered charity, Litfest (Lancaster and District Festival Ltd) can claim Gift Aid on all donations. If you are a UK taxpayer, for every £1 you donate to Litfest, we can claim an additional 25p from the government up to £100 at no extra cost to you. So, for example, if you become a Friend, your donation of £60 will be worth £75 to Litfest, and if you become a Good Friend, your donation of £120 will be worth £126 to Litfest.

To be eligible for Gift Aid donors must meet the following conditions:
1. Be a UK taxpayer.
2. Pay enough income tax or capital gains tax within the tax year to match the amount of Gift Aid claimed.

You can cancel your ‘Friends’ membership at any time by emailing [email protected]. Your ‘Friends’ benefits will stop at the end of the calendar month in which you cancel.

  • If you choose to pay in monthly instalments, you will no longer be charged for the subsequent months after you cancel.
  • There are no refunds (partial or full) for memberships paid for by a one-off payment, except in exceptional circumstances at the discretion of Litfest.
  • If you paid via a one-off payment, your membership will not automatically renew after 12 months. You will be sent a reminder email before your membership expires.
  • If you choose to pay in monthly instalments, your payments will continue on a rolling basis after the first 12 months.
