Vygotsky sees Icelandic snow by Brian Duffield

what is your thought about snowflakes?

imagine an alabaster face/an ivory complexion/azure eyes/cobalt lips
But what words do you know

/ice/sleet/frost

in Iceland imagine snjór
mjöl so close she smiles/nýsnær
/with an etched cream skin/tattooed with carved ivory/flecked iris/grey fades into a deeper shade of blue/

but at night in dreams
language dissolves snow/nýsnær/
pictures are eyes/Luria
thoughts see snow/lausamjöll/
not understanding distinctions

The moon shines above
laced by a lunar radiance

on a frozen /snjólaug/and stares
back as the amber eye
shimmers stars and /mjallhvíti/
powdering down on death

as fish words swim slowly
beneath all imaginings
never to break

the surface
