Description
Synopsis: Outsiders is Roberts’ third collection of poems. It takes as its starting point Herzen’s comment that art and moments of personal happiness are our only real possessions. Roberts explores states of alienation from love to exile, travelling widely in time and place. Among love poems and elegies for friends, the poems portray, with pathos and humour, icons of music and literature, ending in the jazz clubs of New York and Paris in the late 1950s.
