imitating the dog: Mixtape Project

Saturday 8 March 2pm–4pm
Location: The Music Room at The Storey

Calling all wordsmiths, lyricists, beatmakers and content creators… If you’ve got something to say – verbally, visually or sonically – this is for you!

Working with spoken word artist, rapper and musician Testament, and video artist Laura Spark, you’ll create your own lyrical, musical and visual responses to imitating the dog’s unique theatre production All Blood Runs Red which tells the extraordinary true-life story of Eugene Bullard.

You’ll have space to explore your personal reflections on the themes and issues presented in the show, and to create original lyrical and poetic responses set to music and video remixed from the visual and sonic palettes of the show itself.

Selected audio/video pieces created in the workshops will be uploaded to a public playlist, cumulatively creating an online ‘mixtape’ of creative responses from young artists across the country.

This 2-hour workshop, which takes place in the Music Room at the Storey in Lancaster, is suitable for ages 14–18 years. To secure your spot on the workshop, please email [email protected] with the subject line ‘Mixtape Project Workshop’.

Please note that there are only 20 places, which will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. If you are unable to take up your place, please email [email protected] with as much notice as possible, so that we can allocate your place to someone on the waiting list.
