Join us in celebrating National Poetry Day on Thursday 7th October 2021 and win a free poetry workshop for your school with children’s poet Kate Wakeling!
This year, to celebrate National Poetry Day, we are inviting your students in years 5/6 and 7/8 to send us their poems and help us make an online ‘Poetry Mosaic’ on the theme of ‘Choice’. Poems can be in any form and up to 14 lines in length. Your students’ poems will join others written and submitted independently, written and gathered from all over the Northwest, and will be displayed online at www.litfest.org in the week following the deadline of 1st October 2021.
But how do you get started? Well, to get your class inspired we have put together a free activity-pack full of fun tasks to get the imagination and ideas flowing. Available in both digital and paper formats, please register for yours at: email@example.com
All completed poems should be submitted by email as a group, by 1st October to firstname.lastname@example.org
BUT THAT’S NOT ALL…
In addition, we are offering 2 exciting opportunities for your school to win a free workshop with children’s poet Kate Wakeling (Moon Juice and Cloud Soup), who will visit the winning school in person or online to do a lively reading and workshop for your students.
Each school’s group of poems will be assessed by Litfest and Kate Wakeling, and the schools submitting the best overall entry in the opinion of the judges will win a free workshop with Kate.
The workshops will last 45-60 minutes, and there is one workshop available for years 5 and/or 6 in a primary school and one workshop available for years 7 and/or 8 in a secondary school. Once the two winning schools have been decided, dates for the workshops will be agreed with Litfest at a date convenient for Kate and the school, from the week beginning 11th October and ideally before the end of the month.
