Women on Nature: Katharine Norbury with Polly Atkin, Karen Lloyd and Sarah Thomas
In recent years there has been an explosion of writing about place, landscape and the natural world, yet within this sphere, women’s voices have remained in the minority.
Katharine Norbury’s anthology, Women on Nature, gathers the voices of women from the fourteenth to the twenty-first centuries, who have written on the natural world in these islands. She will talk about how she gathered the writers and invite some of the Northwest contributors, including Polly Atkin, Karen Lloyd and Sarah Thomas, to read with her.
“A fine, rare and landmark collection of nature writing” -Deborah Warner, The Times
Katharine Norbury is the author of The Fish Ladder, which was shortlisted for the 2016 Wainwright Prize and longlisted for the Guardian First Book Award. She has contributed to the Guardian, the Telegraph, the Washington Post, Lonely Planet magazine and caughtbytheriver.
