This Place, This Planet: Helen Mort
Hosted by Helen Mort, this co-creation event will feature some of the best poems from the past written about the planet and our local environments, including some of those submitted to the “This Place, This Planet” poetry map. It will provide a chance for the authors of these poems to read their work at the festival.
In the days leading up to the event, Helen Mort will curate a selection of 12 outstanding poems from those submitted by 10 March, and by 13 March Litfest will contact the selected poets to invite them to read their work either in person or online at the event.
The poets will read in groups of three, starting with the three best poems submitted by local school students. After the event, all the submitted poems will remain online in our specially created Litfest poetry map.
Helen Mort is an award-winning writer based in Sheffield. She has published two poetry collections, Division Street and No Map Could Show Them, a novel, a story collection, and also writes drama and creative non-fiction. She is a Senior Lecturer at Manchester Metropolitan University.
