Update: due to the Covid-19 outbreak the first meeting of the Litfest International Book Club will no longer be taking place. However, please don’t hesitate to sign up if you are interested — we are exploring our options, including digital options, and hope to find a way to continue soon.

Litfest International Fiction Book Club

Join us and share your passion for reading!

Every month we will meet to discuss some of the best works of contemporary fiction in translation, creating a series of friendly sessions with the aim of discovering what’s new and exciting in international literature. There will be well-informed introductions by Litfest, Lancaster University and Book Club members. And we will make a point of choosing paperback books that are easy to find in libraries and bookshops. ALL WELCOME!

As well as discussing how we’d like the book club to run, confirming when we’d like to meet and where, and what books we’d like to read over the next couple of sessions, we’ll discuss Lars Mytting’s intriguing and hugely successful novel The Sixteen Trees of the Somme, translated from the Norwegian by Paul Russell Garrett (MacLehose Press paperback, 2018).

Lars Mytting will be talking about The Sixteen Trees of the Somme at Litfest on 14 March, Storey Auditorium, Meeting House Lane, LA1 1HT at 3.00pm.  Click here for full details or to book tickets.

Come to the event, then join us for the first meeting of the Book Club on Monday 16 March, 6.30–8.00pm, at The Sun Hotel, 63–5 Church Street, Lancaster LE1 1ET.
